Experience That Listens. Leadership That Delivers.
Re-Elect Sally Branson for City Council Position 2.
A Message from Sally
“Friends and Neighbors,
I’ve lived most all of my life in Friendswood — from the classrooms at Friendswood High to watching my grandchildren ride their bikes down the same streets I once roamed. This is not just where I live; it’s where my heart is rooted.
As your councilmember, I’ve listened, learned, and fought for what matters: safe neighborhoods, responsible growth, flood resilience, small businesses thriving, and open government. But our work is far from done. Every day, I see new challenges — aging infrastructure, more complex weather, traffic congestion— and I believe that with experience, compassion, and steadfast resolve, Friendswood can face them head-on.
That’s why I am seeking re-election for Position 2. Because I believe in continuity — continuity of values, of trust, and of caring leadership that doesn’t waver under pressure. I believe in putting people over politics, in hearing every voice, not just the loudest, and in making decisions not for headlines, but for our children, our seniors, you and our future.
I ask for your vote so we can keep building together — stronger, safer, more connected, and more unified. I don’t believe in standing still. I believe in moving forward — with humility, integrity, and service.
Thank you for your support. Let’s continue this journey — together.
Sincerely,
Sally Branson”
Meet Sally Branson
A Friend of Friendswood — Born, Raised & Committed
Sally Branson is a lifelong Friendswoodian with deep roots in the community she proudly calls home. After graduating from Friendswood High School in 1976, she attended The University of Texas at Austin, where she earned her Bachelor of Business Administration. She returned to Friendswood, where she met and married her husband of 35 years, Jon. Together, they raised three children—each a graduate of Friendswood High School—and today, Sally is the proud grandmother of three grandchildren who are continuing the family tradition in Friendswood schools.
Career & Professional Service
Sally began her career in 1989 at NASA’s Johnson Space Center, working in the Chief Financial Officer’s Directorate. In 2000, she transitioned into the financial services industry, where she continues to make an impact. True to her commitment to her hometown, Sally chose downtown Friendswood as the location for the business she started over 25 years ago and now works alongside her oldest son.
Civic & Community Involvement
Sally’s dedication to Friendswood extends far beyond her professional career. She is actively involved in numerous civic and nonprofit organizations, including:
Galveston County Historical Commission (Chairman)
Friendswood Historical Society (Board Member)
Friendswood Rotary Club (Active Member)
Friendswood Education Foundation (Former Board Member, over 18 years of service)
Friends of Downtown Friendswood Association (Founding participant)
Through these roles, Sally has consistently championed projects that honor Friendswood’s heritage while advancing opportunities for future generations.
City Council Service
Elected to Friendswood City Council in 2017, Sally currently serves her community in her May 2023 – May 2026 term. She is the council liaison to the Houston-Galveston Area Council (Past Chair), Transportation Policy Council (Small City Representative) and the Community Economic Development Committee. She also serves on the Board of the Bay Area Houston Transportation Partnership (BayTran). She is President of the Texas Municipal League (TML) Region 14 and is the Region 14 TML Board Director. Before her election, she served three years on the Planning & Zoning Commission, gaining valuable experience in growth and development issues that continue to shape Friendswood today.
A Commitment to Service
Whether serving on City Council, mentoring future leaders, or rolling up her sleeves for a community project, Sally Branson’s guiding principle remains the same: to keep Friendswood a place where families thrive, businesses grow, and history is honored.
These are the facts.
-
Stormwater, Flood Mitigation & Drainage
Why it matters: Flooding has been one of the biggest, most consistent concerns in Friendswood elections and planning discussions.
We must accelerate drainage projects with transparency and accountability.
Future growth should never worsen flooding — we need smarter planning and regional coordination.
Every family deserves peace of mind that their home will be safe in heavy storms.
Traffic, Mobility & Corridor Planning
Why it matters: Residents are directly affected by congestion, safety at major intersections, and the Parkway corridor study.
Traffic solutions must balance safety, growth, and our small-town character.
I support planning that improves evacuation routes, pedestrian safety, and neighborhood access.
We should make mobility improvements with community input — not one-size-fits-all solutions.
Development & Zoning (Wilderness Trail & Beyond)
Why it matters: Growth sparks debate about Friendswood’s identity, and the Wilderness Trail contamination concerns have heightened scrutiny.
I welcome development that respects our neighborhoods and protects public health.
Any project with contamination concerns must be carefully reviewed before moving forward.
Growth should enhance our community — not compromise it.
Public Safety
Our first responders must have the tools and training they need.
I’ll continue supporting community policing and safe school zones.
Safety is the foundation of everything else we build in Friendswood.
Code Enforcement & Property Standards
Fair and consistent code enforcement protects property values and keeps neighborhoods safe.
We must address unsafe structures and neglected properties with compassion but firmness.
Transparency & Governance
I believe in open government — residents should never feel left out of important decisions.
I’ve worked to improve communication between City Hall and our community.
My pledge is simple: People over politics, always.
